Six year old, Tinotenda Manyemba, a whiz kid from Epworth who got the facilitation of skipping grades after undergoing a five hour intelligence test by the Department of Psychology and Social Needs which falls under Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, is still making sterling academic progress. The young boy who is now in grade four at Widcombe Primary in Hatfield, is learning among his ten year old counterparts after he was made to skip grades last year after thorough vetting. He was recommended to go to grade three from grade one. Tinotenda is from a humble background and it is believed that if he remains this intelligent, chances are high that he would sit for his Ordinary Level examinations at the age of thirteen in 2025. Tinotenda’s intellectual concentration was ranked at 125 which is a superior stage. Tinotenda’s parents are thrilled about their son’s performance in school. Provincial Education Director for Harare Metropolitan Province Mr Christopher Kateera confirmed Tinotenda’s great performance. He mentioned that the media should help in spreading this information such that more and more parents can come with their children for vetting since this is rare in Zimbabwe. Parents should not shy away from such a free service and the government should work closely with parents so that such children can receive proper assistance to hence their intelligence.
