The Government has ordered the temporary suspension of lessons at Glen View 5 Primary School in Harare to pave way for the provision of adequate sanitation facilities this followed reports that 2 students had dies whilst 20 others were being treated of cholera. The school’s sewer system is in a bad state. Parents had also protested at school to have the borehole water tested for contamination. The school and health authorities had screened children with suspected cholera symptoms and others were given oral rehydration solution sachets. There is also concern as the boreholes the community relies on have been condemned and their taps are dry. Minister Moyo said that the school had been closed so as to restore proper sanitation at the school and bring on fresh water.
