A Harare woman, Spiwe Samanyanga, has claimed $250 maintenance from her former husband for the upkeep of their child. She said that her former husband earns approximately $800 from his butchery and cooking oil sales. Her nine-year-old child pays $45 school fees per term and $125 is for clothes and uniforms after every five months. Spiwe told the court that she was unable to work due to her health condition. She suffered a stroke and that’s why she wanted the father, Jubie Makoni to give her that much. Jubie offered $50 before which Spiwe did not accept because it was too little. Jubie was in default and presiding magistrate ordered him to pay $150 per month with effect from November.
