A Chitungwiza man, Tonderai Kaseke, has denied paying his own children’s maintenance, arguing that he was looking after his sick father. The mother, Tonderai Mboche, claimed $200 and said Kaseke was neglecting his children and hiding behind his father’s illness. She mentioned that his father is on pension and is able to take care of himself. His father is said to own a house which is being used by tenants. Presiding magistrate Shelah Nazombe told Kaseke that taking care of his father was only a moral obligation and that his children come first. She then ordered him to pay $180 maintenance for his two children with effect from December 1.
