More teachers joined the strike which started on Tuesday. Teachers have downed tools demanding a review if their salaries to a minimum of $1 700 a month. Matabeleland North and an attendance as low as 15% and Mashonaland East had 40%. MP Karenyi said in parliament that the rights of children and parents were being infringed on because school fees were paid for school children that were not learning because the government was failing to resolve salary issues with teachers. Chipinge East MP Mlambo also asked the Public Service minister why 70% of teachers in Chipenge had not turned up for work despite the ministry saying that the majority of teachers had ignored the call for the strike.
