Four years ago, Chido Tauzeni and Loveness Bhebhe were blessed with a baby they thought was a son.six months later when they went for a regular check up they weere told that their son was hermaphrodite and tests had to be done. Hermaphroditism is a condition whereby one is born with two sexual organs both male and female. At the age of four the child cannot attend pre-school because he is always in need of special care. Taunzeni has been seeking help from neighbours, church and relatives but to no avail. Records show that he visited Childline Zimbabwe seeking help and was referred to an organisation which deals with threat to family health JF Kapnek Trust, which had no funding but pleaded with Lancet to conduct the tests for free. The family still seeks funding to this day and assistance.
